Mrs Timihou's Apples.....

That's what we called them when I was growing up, and that's what we call them when my kids are growing up. Mrs Lois Timihou lived in Titahi Bay with her tane and tamariki (who hung out with my Mum and her whanau). It's one of those long family connections, where you still take your car to Glen Timihou to get it fixed, etc. It's a tasty take on apple pie, with an individual-serve, almost pull-apart twist:


Sheesh, and how excited were we to find four, count 'em - four! eggs in the nesting box this afternoon. Go Girls! Poppa always used to say to our chooks when we were growing up "Lay me some eggs, or it's off with your heads!" - ours will be safe for a bit now, for sure:

Dad's Family Fun Night.....

The highlight of this was the slide show we shared. The great thing about slides is that they look so crisp and clear and colourful that you would swear they were taken only yesterday (the giveaways are things like the fag in Nana's hand, or the nappy on The Lad's 1yo bum, lol):

L5's Busy Day.....

First off, he was very proud of opening his baked beans for breakfast all by himself, finally having mastered our pathetic little camping can opener (the only one we have). This is up there with being able to push yourself on a swing and reading independently, in our house (don't you love the safety gloves, lol?)!:


Then he followed the 'map' and made himself up this bionicle:


Settled down with some of Grandad's cabbage as a movie snack (what else would a 5yob choose, ha ha?):


And finally made a jam and cream sponge for pudding:

What could be more pressing than taking your disgusting computer keyboard apart, key by key, and cleaning it. And then putting it all back together again, key by key:
