Orokawa Bay.....
How cool is this place? We toddled off for a day in the sun today, we packed our picnic lunch (L9 iced her special chocolate cake for the occasion) and headed away to Waihi Beach where we loaded ourselves up and took a trek up over the hill:
And back down the other side:
Stopping to marvel along the way at some of the amazing sea-to-nowhere scenery:
And a few snapshots every now and then:
We picked our possie:
And were amazed to see no-one up the beach:
Or even down the beach, for that matter:
The sand was a crack-up - it almost made our feet look gorilla-like:
We had some lunch then a few rounds of King-of-the-Log:
This shot is for Kate - *ME*, in the *SEA* - I haven't been in the sea for years and years and years:
We had a bit of fun in the sand while we dried off:
Then we explored a bit:
And got some mussels for dinner:
Some visitors paddled in:
Then turned around and paddled back out again:
We had a turn on the rope swing before we headed back to the car:
The contrast between one side of the hill and the other was astounding in terms of activity and population:
We grabbed a nice cold drink and a chocolate-dipped ice-cream cone before heading down the coast again to Bowentown:
We parked next to these very sexy beasts:
Who, funnily enough, belonged to her and her entourage for the day:
Airborne!
