To "The Old Pine Tree" and Back.....

We decided to toddle off to "The Old Pine Tree" this morning, to see if we could see the pheasant's nest that The Lad and Tramp and H7 had seen yesterday.

It's a lovely walk through "our" forest, down our side of the hill and back up to the next ridge along. It always takes longer than it "should" because there's so much to see and do along the way. There's the kingfisher nests (baby kingfishers make the most adorable little squwaks):

The wineberries (yummy!):

The caterpillars, lol:

The spiderwebs:

The koru:

The blackberries (yum, again!):

The 'caves' in the old tree prunings:

The animal beds:

The mysterious teeth marks on the fungi:

The view along the way:

And finally, The Old Pine Tree himself:

There's something quite awe-inspiring hanging round under a gnarly old tree, isn't there?
